How Technology is Changing the Future of Learning – Resources Shared at #ASTDTN

CaptureOn April 17th, I had the pleasure of speaking at an ASTD Mid-Tennessee Chapter Event. I led a discussion titled How Technology is Changing the Future of Learning. Here’s a description of the session:

Technology is advancing at an ever-increasing rate. New technologies are introduced to organizations almost every day, including many used to support learning and performance. In the last decade, learning professionals have needed to incorporate many new technologies into their learning strategy, including simulations, virtual classrooms, mobile learning, and more. Keeping pace with these new technologies, deciding which ones to implement, and balancing new tools with existing technologies is a growing challenge. Training professionals need to understand how learning technologies are evolving and how future technologies will impact and benefit their organizations. Join us for a discussion exploring the future of learning technology, and learn about the opportunities (and risks) that training professionals will need to factor into their design, development, and training strategy in the near future.

In this session, you will learn how technology is redefining the expectations of training. You will explore the new competencies that training professionals need to add to their skill sets. You will discuss how organizations are using technology for training innovation. You will discover how to use technology to provide minimally disruptive performance support. You will leave this session with an understanding of the technologies that are changing learning, and ways to minimize the risk of falling behind advancements in learning technology.

This blog post is being set up primarily as a follow-up resource for those that attended the session, and it may also serve as a resource for anyone that wants to learn more about the technology trends that are shaping the future of learning.
